Sunset Highway Knit Sweater

Wooooo! I have to admit it: when I first started drooling over this sweater, I never actually thought I'd make it. Luckily, one of my LYSs, Black Mountain Yarn Shop, hosted a knit-along starting in January. It was the perfect selfish knitting project after months of focusing on holiday gifts!

Pattern: Sunset Highway by Caitlin Hunter
Yarn: Hedgehog Fibres Sock in Shiver, Hurricane, Budgie, and Electric

I purchased the yarn on my birthday back in December when Sami (whose birthday is the day before mine) and I took a yarn field trip to Black Mountain and treated ourselves. We think this should now be an annual tradition.

I already had one skein of Shiver, so I bought a second one to finish up the body. I had to alternate the skeins, though, because the dyes were pretty different.

Donna at Black Mountain Yarn Shop helped me choose my colors based around the Shiver skein that I brought in, plus my love for blue. She's so great with color! Even though she's not a redhead, she knows what colors redheads like and look good in.

Sami's yarn (right): Fiber for the People in Cactus Flower and Granny's Tea Dress; Hedgehog Fibres Sock in Cheeky. (She's not sure what the dark purple color is called!)

It was so fun to go to the KAL and see what colors other knitters were using. I definitely wanna do another KAL, but I have a lot of other projects stacked up waiting to be cast on first. :)
