Softest West End Knit Cardigan Ever

Cardigans might be the best sweaters in the world. I starting knitting this one back in the winter, but I only had the opportunity to wear it once or twice before the weather warmed up. Even now, it's proving to be a great layering piece.

Also, the yarn. Looooove it. Want more.

Pattern: West End Cardigan by Hannah Fettig from Texture
Yarn: Purl Soho Flax Down in 1620 Lavender Opal

I bought this yarn in New York last summer when Alex and I went on our annual visit to see his family. My friend Jessica and I hit up Purl Soho, and we could've stayed there all day! We totally enable each other when it comes to buying fabric and yarn; that's why I love her so much.

Before I wound the yarn, I would just reach into the bag and feel it. So soft. Definitely one of those sweaters that makes me want to curl up with a hot chocolate and watch Broadchurch (or whatever your current TV obsession is).

As a (ahem) large-busted lady, I'm usually totally against open cardigans that don't have buttons. The ladies seem to protrude from it no matter what. I considered adding buttons to this one and using the bottom of the cables as buttonholes, but I actually think I'll skip the buttons and leave it as is.

I really like how this cardigan looks (and feels) layered over dresses. I think I'll probably reach for it when I need an extra layer this spring but don't want to wear a jacket.

  1. What a cozy sweater. I’ve only been knitting for one year. I hope to have the skills to knit sweaters at some point.
