Flowers and Butterflies Clutch

Do you read Mollie Makes? It's one of my absolute favorite craft magazines. The most recent issue had this amazing clutch project in it, so I whipped one up!

I made a few adjustments to the pattern. I added magnetic snaps and instead of adding a trigger with a leather pull to the zipper, I inserted a little wrist wrap.

Fabric: straight from my Aunt Maude's stash
Leather: scraps courtesy of my friend Jessica, left over from the Leather Craft Party
Zipper and magnetic snaps: Joanns

It was my first time sewing with leather on my machine, and I was worried it would be a beast. It wasn't so bad! And why is the sound of the needle hitting leather so satisfying?

Have you ever made something with leather? I still have plenty of scraps, so send your ideas my way!

  2. I've been too scared to try leather. I don't know why! I noticed my local cheap fabric place had a basket of leather remnants the other day so maybe I should try a bag.I have the Hot Patterns Nairobi bag pattern somewhere...

  3. Oh wow! I love that fabric! And no, I've never sewn with leather! Do you use the soft kind? And good job on the magnetic snap and wrist wrap!
