I spotted the Bloom Loom at the Boye booth. Seriously digging all these colors.
The main reason I was at VK Live was to assist Jean Moss with her Japanese-style short row class. Here are some of Jean's samples from the class. I wasn't familiar with this particular short-row technique before this, but now I'm a convert. (Here's a how-to if you want to give it a try. I swear it's easier than wrap and turn.)
A lot of the ladies in the class saw the sample on the left and envisioned a knitted skirt or necklace.
My favorite spot in the marketplace was the yarn tasting lounge where knitters could test yarn before buying. I was tempted to put the yarn on the floor and just roll around in it. (I resisted.)
The Boye booth also pimped out their felting machine with samples from my lovely friend and queen of felting, Michele Muska.
I'm also super excited to try these Crochet Dude crochet hooks. The handle is thicker than the actual hook, so it will be interesting to see if I can avoid my usual crochet hand cramps.
Some of the sweaters from the latest Vogue Knitting magazine. I loved seeing these in person and getting a closer look at the stitch detail.
I also took Lily Chin's Tips & Tricks class, based on her book Knitting Tips & Tricks. Lily is hilarious ("Do we have any double cast-on virgins here? No? Ok, we're all double cast-on sluts.") and I learned so many shortcuts for yucky knitting things, like adding buttons and using a crochet hook to cast on.
Yarn heaven! Have you ever been to a VK Live or other knitting event? What did you get your hands on?
That looks like so much fun! The crochet hooks look similar to some Clover ones that I use and I find them very comfortable compared to a normal hook.
ReplyDeleteThe last knitting event I went to, I blew my budget in the first hour, cracked out the credit card and then sat knitting with friends, old and new, until I really had to go home. Great day out!
