Waterlily Summer Knit Top

Oh, look! I finished this breezy airy summery top just in time for fall! Haha. It didn't work out quite the way I planned.

Pattern: Waterlily by Meghan Fernandes (Issue 8 of Pom Pom Quarterly)
Yarn: Rowan 4-Ply Cotton (discontinued)

This is my first time making a summer-season knitting project. I stayed away from it before because I didn't think I wanted a summer top or needed it. I mostly just wear t-shirts. But this one spoke to me for some reason.

This is also the first pattern I've ever made from Pom Pom Quarterly. I own quite a few issues, but I mostly just drool on them.

I started knitting the body of this top in the car on the way back from our annual summer trip to New York to see Alex's family. The body was super easy to knit since it was just stockinette, but I started to slow down a lot when I got to the lace part.

I was also working on a lot of other projects in between like friends' birthday presents so I just let this one go for too long.

Previously I was going to use this yarn for the Clover Wrap in Stitch 'n' Bitch Nation, but that was years ago. I bought this cotton yarn, probably around 2005 or so, at Sewickley Yarns in Pennsylvania, right outside Pittsburgh.

I never finished Clover, and today it doesn't appeal to me as much. It had been sitting in a basket in my craft space for over a decade, so I decided to rip it out and turn it into something I wanted to wear. Farewell, Clover! Helloooo, Waterlily!
